Night scene

My final for ANM 251: Fundamentals of Texture and lighting.
A night scene from the same animation we composited.
Had fun creating the scene and revising it over the past 3 weeks. Feels great to have a good basis of understanding of creating material shaders and textures by hand, with a little bit of compositing.

All material shader, texture and lighting done by me, obj's were given to us as assets from the boy character, the Volkswagen beetle car, camper and city environment.

total render time was 11 minutes per frame, 100 frames of animation rendered using about 20 computers from the Academy's render-farm.

Done using autodesk maya, mudbox, Nuke, After Effects, and media encoder.

Night scene, final composition, optimizing lights, area lights, point lights using arnold renderer in Maya. over the course of a few weeks.

referenced in the car, trailer and boy, alembic cached the animation in. Started the process of adjusted the scene into a late evening/night. The boy the car and the trailer were textured over the fall semester leading into a final shot here.

Went through and added, arnold standard surface shaders to the city.
